member of Spanish Town's notorious Klansman gang was yesterday shot dead

"A member of Spanish Town's notorious Klansman gang was yesterday shot dead in the St Catherine capital in what police believe is a feud among members of the criminal outfit.
The gangster, identified as Jermaine Morrison, alias 'Speedy', 31, was shot dead while at a service station at the corner of Young Street by men travelling in a motor car. A man and a woman were injured in the shooting, which sent scores of pedestrians scampering from the busy commercial area shortly after 2:00 pm.
Police said the injured persons were admitted to hospital in stable condition.
Head of the St Catherine North Police Division, Superintendent Anthony Castell, said Morrison's death was the latest in a heated internal rift between members of the gang, believed to be one of the deadliest in the country.
'It is an internal or intra-gang rivalry between the members. Tesha Miller (reputed head of the gang) is now in jail so the others are fighting over who must control which turf,' said Castell."

Police arrest mastermind of 1976 French Ocean's Eleven bank heist - Telegraph

Ocean's Trilogy (Ocean's Eleven/ Ocean's Twelve/ Ocean's Thirteen) [Blu-ray]Police arrest mastermind of 1976 French Ocean's Eleven bank heist - Telegraph: "Police seized Jacques Cassandri, a known figure of the southern French underworld, after he purported to set the record straight in writing about his role in the Rivieria robbery.
Mr Cassandri, 68, is under investigation on suspicion of possessing 'illegally obtained funds, money laundering and non-justification of (financial) resources'.
In The Truth about the Nice Heist, Mr Cassandri – writing under the pseudonym Amigo – says he is tired of living in the shadow of the man assumed to have run the Ocean's Eleven-style bank job, Albert Spaggiari, who he claims in fact only played a bit part.
On 16 July 1976, after two months of drilling through the underlying sewers, a commando of 13 robbers finally broke into the vaults of the Société Générale bank in central Nice. They spent the next six days clearing 370 coffers of gold ingots, jewellery and cash amounting to 50 million francs – today worth around £24 million – before making their getaway just as the rising sewage waters began to flood the bank.
When police arrived, they found the words 'neither weapons, nor violence, nor hatred,' scrawled on the walls."

Jail time reduced for gangster in baby shooting | Canada | News | Toronto Sun

Jail time reduced for gangster in baby shooting | Canada | News | Toronto Sun: "Alberta's highest court has reduced the sentence of a Hobbema gangster who wounded a 23-month-old girl in a drive-by shooting on the Samson Cree Nation reserve.

Christopher Shane Crane, 20, had been sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault, robbery with a firearm and two gun charges in connection with the April 13, 2008, shooting that left Asia Saddleback with a stray bullet lodged near her heart.

However, in a decision released Wednesday, the Court of Appeal of Alberta lowered the sentence to seven years after finding the trial judge erred in his sentencing.

Court heard the charges stemmed from two separate events on the same day, the robbery of a marijuana dealer and the shooting of Saddleback.

Crane had been drinking with two other men as part of his 18th birthday celebrations and at 7 p.m. one of them drove Crane to the dealer's house to rob him of his wares.

Crane had a loaded sawed-off .22-calibre rifle which he used during the robbery to threaten the dealer, fire into a wall and hit him on the nose."

Cpl. Craig Douglass told ctvbc.ca one of the showpieces is a large gold medallion encrusted with diamonds.

'Sort of a mask with fangs and golden eyes -- that sort of thing,' he said in a telephone interview. 'This isn't stuff that you're going to find in a jewelry store that's for sure.'

An appraiser valued the haul at more than $200,000.

Police have executed search warrants at six locations against a man they say is a member of the Game Tight Soldiers and is also connected to the Renegades motorcycle gang.

Kray prison letters up for auction - News - Morpeth Herald

Kray prison letters up for auction - News - Morpeth Herald: "Letters and artwork produced by killer Reggie Kray while he was in an Isle of Wight prison are being auctioned by the woman credited with helping him become a born-again Christian.

Carol-Ann Kelly struck up an unlikely friendship with the East End gangster while visiting her then husband in Parkhurst prison in 1983.

Their bond flourished over the years after Kray said she reminded him of his late wife Frances, and the pair read the Bible together during visits. The villain was so fond of Ms Kelly that she said he even paid for the rent on a flat on the Isle of Wight so she could visit him in prison with her then eight-year-old son David.

To some, Kray's claim to have become a born-again Christian was seen as a cynical attempt by him to help secure his release from jail. But in the previously unseen letters, he shows apparent sincerity in his actions, according to Ms Kelly.

Writing to her after the breakdown of her marriage, he told her: 'Get your head together. Don't contemplate suicide. It would be like turning traitor on David and your mother. I became a born-again Christian on behalf of you.'"
